What are differences between massage therapy and Rolfing?
Rolfing does not focus just on the specific site of injury or it’s signs and symptoms. Evaluation and treatment take on a more holistic approach. The adaptations and compensations that occur as a result of injury or overuse could be either the original cause or the result of the pain and dysfunction. The continuity of fasciae and it’s far reaching or distal influence from the foci of immobility could make treatment and strategy for a massage therapist difficult. A Rolfing Practitioner employing the principles of structural integration allow the fascial reorganization to provide support, stability and lift allowing the site of injury to heal and maintain a more biomechanical efficient state.
